What Kind of Ink do I Use to Stamp My Image?

Posted by Marie M on

First, we need to decide what am I going use to color in that image? Water-based (inks, water-based markers, watercolor medium) or Solvent based (alcohol inks, Stampin’ Blends, Copics, Sharpies).

For water-based coloring, you need a permanent ink: Staz-on, archival inks, Versafine.  I almost always use Versafine for stamping my sentiments…very crisp! Staz-on is used for non-porous surfaces like acetate, metal, glass. It is very difficult to remove from stamps causing some staining and the special cleanser must be rinsed off photopolymer stamps to avoid dissolving them. For solvent-based coloring, Memento is my go-to stamping ink. Many of the hybrid inks will also work like Palette.

I hope this helps you decide what to ink that stamp up with! Have fun crafting!
